    Hi Sara,
I just want to tell you how much I enjoyed your book. I read about three books are year and this one I read in three days flat. I am an agricultural list and lived in China for 30 years and in India for five years. So everything you wrote sprang alive in me. I always knew so everything you wrote sprang alive in me. I always knew that tea seeds were stolen from China to India but never knew how, know I do. I know all the places that Robert Fortune travelled to both in China and in India. What surprised me was that the behaviour you described of the Chinese in the 1800s is so similar to their behaviour today, whether it be playing mah-Jong, gambling or cheating? One question: was all the information that you gathered based upon Fortune’s or 19th century records? Again thanks so much and hearty congratulations. Richard
